Dyota is hosted by Elisabeth Tiesinga (Liz), 38 years old, from the Netherlands and currently living on the South-West coast of Portugal. I am a certified mindfulness trainer since 2011.
I found meditation in my early twenties, learned and experienced it through a 10 day Vipassana (silence) retreat in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. In my twenties it has off and on been close or sometimes more distant to me. Over the years I’ve have grown and learned through many different life experiences, encounters, studies, travels and work, but also by following more Vipassana and Mindfulness retreats. The teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn and Sayaghy U Ba Khin, but also many other wise and pure individuals have inspired me.
These teachings, together with all I've experienced and learned in my life journey so far, have resulted in finding a base, a foundation from which I would like to create the space for people to experience what being mindful is. To feel what it can bring to your life if you practice and experience mindfulness often.
In 2011 everything fell into place, while following the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Teacher Training Course. This was the moment for me to plant a little seed called Dyota. Through and with Dyota I would like to host gatherings in Portugal and the Netherlands, through which people can experience and practice mindfulness.
Dyota is Sanskrit for
Light, Brilliance & Sunshine
